Swim Lessons!

Memorial Day weekend, we packed up and spent a couple of days in Greensboro with the Abers.  Saturday, we went to their pool and Will went mad for the kiddie pool.  He was walking all around it and laughing, having an utter blast.  He would trip a few times and go under, but either Jason or Mrs. Aber was there to pick him up.  Sunday, we went back to the pool and he was not very into it.  He would run around the pool, but did not want to go in the kiddie pool.  Jason brought him in the big pool and he was just clinging to Jason.  We were a little concerned that he might have developed a fear from the couple of times he dunked in the kiddie...not on his own accord.

The following weekend Will started this year's swim lessons at the YMCA.  He cried the whole time.  We left the 30 minute class early only because, as Jason said, "next time, let's remember to cut his finger nails".  Jason looked like he did not take "no" for an answer.  The next week, while walking to the pool, Will just laid face-down near the pool in quiet protest.  Forgetting he weighs 30 pounds and can be moved easily, Jason got him in the pool.  He was still not a fan, but as soon as the instructor brought over the laundry basket of plastic balls, Will got interested.  He was on his belly, trying to get to them to throw them back in the basket.  "BAWL, BAWL!!"  Score one for the instructor.  THEN, she takes out a little  pencil case filled with little bubbles containers (like what one may get at weddings)... "BA-BAWLS! BA-BAWLS!!"  Score two for the instructor. He was really engaged and even let Jason dunk him a couple of times.

This week, we were talking it up and he seemed pretty excited.  As we were looking for parking, we realize that from his little car seat, he is YELLING, "BA-BAWLS!" over and over and over.  We look at each other and say, "man, we hope she brought the bubbles this week..."  He went right in the pool and dunked and swam to ball and yes, played with bubbles.  We have high hopes that next week will be a good one too!
